Perhaps it depends on the varieties and if they’re the dwarf type. If it were me I would plant no more than two plant in each container, but they’d probably do best with one plant per container. In my raised beds, I plant my tomatoes two feet away from each other which give them room for air flow, growth etc, but my raised beds are open to the ground underneath so they are free to stretch their roots. One per container would really allow each to thrive.

Are you sure those are 65 gallon containers? A typical barrel is 55 gallons, and those containers look a lot smaller than a barrel.

Anyway, if those are anything other than dwarf or micro varieties, I would stick with a single plant per container.

Depends on how big you want them to get and the type.

If you want the biggest plant possible. One. If you are ok with smaller plants, 2. 3 will probably be too many.

If determinate, 2 will probably work fine. If they’re real small/dwarf, could do 3.

If indeterminate, I’d stick to 1.

If they truly are 65 gallons you could probably get away with 3 per plant, but you will need to trellis them somehow. A typical tomato plant thrives in about 20G worth of soil
