Come into ALDI with me see what I bought for a week of groceries for my family of 5. I always use items from my pantry/freezer as well. I share my dinner meal plan at the end.
Also, I do NOT buy my groceries exclusively at ALDI, but they’re the first place I try and my favorite to shop at.

Recipes:
Old Fashioned Noodle Soup:
This is a family favorite and a family recipe:

1 large white onion, diced
12 oz Salt Pork
7-8 large russet potatoes, diced
8 cups water (6 to begin, 2 later)

Brown diced salt pork, add in onion. Sautee together. When onions are translucent, add in 6 cups water and the potatoes. Heavily pepper (to taste). Simmer for an hour or two. I love to make this portion in the morning and let is go for a long time!
Eventually (at least after an hour) bring to a boil. While its starting to boil prepare noodles.

Noodles:
2 ½ cups all purpose flour
3 large eggs
Pulse in food processor, add water to get to pliable consistency (amount will depend on climate in kitchen…. I usually do a slow drizzle from a tablespoon)

Roll onto floured surface, cut into preferred sizes (these will expand). Drop into boiling soup, boil for a bit and then reduce heat and simmer until ready to eat. I prefer to do this as long as possible too. Low and slow wins for this recipe. Salt at the end (I usually add roughly ½-1 tsp)

Black Bean Soup (I don’t usually follow a recipe, but something like this): https://pin.it/6Hd2MF0ex
Crusty Bread: https://pin.it/UXzqyQ6Mj
Roasted Cauliflower: https://pin.it/1wHm5tasb
Alfredo: https://pin.it/5OtWk7566
Greek Chicken (I use this recipe’s marinade, but make it with just chicken breast and red onion): https://pin.it/7HFwIPM0D
Greek Bowls: have a spread of rice, cauliflower rice, Greek dressing, beets, feta, kalamata olives, red onion, chicken, kale, hummus, grape tomatoes, tzatziki (I completely forgot this!!) naan bread – everyone makes plate/bowls with desired toppings. For me that’s everything!

  1. FYI, when buying asparagus, always get thicker stalks, the thinner are tasteless. As far as feta cheese, never buy pre crumbled, always whole in a brine. Nutmeg, buy it whole, it's cheaper and you get more of the authentic flavor from it.

  12. I buy my freeze-dried fruit at Dollar Tree by the case and have it delivered to my store, no charge. They also have several varies of fruit. Each bag is one serving with 0.6 oz (17gr) so seems a little better that Aldi. It is non-gmo, no preservatives, gluten free. They usually have quite a bit in the stores so I tried it before it in large amounts. I really like it and so do my Morkies, Emmie & Hattie;)

  13. Aldi has really good peppermint tea bags, and it's cheaper than Meijer. I like Meijer’s pomegranate blueberry acai tea.

  14. Love the variety in your meal plan and the fact that you have one! When I was feeding our family, I planned meals by the day and it wasn’t always easy! Wish I had done this instead. ❤️
