As a college student on a very tight budget of sub-$400 for both an espresso machine and a grinder, I spent a while looking for options. My plan was to do a Kingrinder and a used Breville Bambino, but then I found Turin from Espresso Outlet. I valued having an automatic grinder, and what I’ve heard on this sub is the grinder is more important than the machine, so I pivoted. I was able to get the Turin Sonata as well as the Turin SD40 grinder for $325. I have been so happy with them both since, and I’ve used it daily!

I don’t know anything compared to the people on this subreddit, but I have been so excited learning how to pull shots and steam milk, and I can taste the vast improvement in quality already!

Great first setup! I hope you enjoy it, what matters the most is whether you like the shots you pull.

  3. I bought a bag of those Middle Fork Roasters beans at the airport in Seattle on impulse last time I was there and loved them. Enjoy!

I’ve got the same grinder! been very happy with it for the few months that I’ve had it. I find it needs a good deep clean once a week or so with regular use, but could stretch to 2 weeks if needed
