Been checking out botrytized wines lately. Started with Tokaji and Samoradni and now I’m trying Sauternes.
Chateau Suduiraut 2015
Tasted over the course of 3 days.
Eye: radiant gold.
Nose: intense burnt caramel, orange peel, marzipan.
Mouth: opulent in the extreme. Vibrant acidity, highly complex and incredibly dense, initially follows the nose, soon accompanied by white peach, honeysuckle, scuppernong. I can still taste the sip I took 5 minutes ago.
Continued to blossom over the three days, and if anything was clearer and more intense on day 3.
Magical wine. Absolutely magical. It tasted like late childhood summers growing up in the United States Deep South. I can’t wait until the other two I bought have a bit of age.

This was my very first Sauternes and I was hooked immediately. What a journey that started me on. Glad you got to try this one, it’s delicious. An amazing recent vintage. Fantastic notes!
Suduiraut is magic. I posted on here a few months ago my experience with a 2003 Suduiraut and it was extraordinary.
A very good choice, next try one that has been cellared a while, they truly sing with age. I recently had a 1986 that was still tasting a bit young but most that age will have a well developed palate.
I just had this same bottle last week, pure heaven. So glad I have another case on the way.
I have 2014 waiting for me I got off of Last Bottle. These notes have very excited now.
