I just got TVP and Vital Wheat Gluten, and my intention was to make a simple seitan as it's my first time! I was following (clearly didn't) a recipe.

After kneading and kneading and getting nowhere, I realized I used TVP instead of the Wheat Gluten and now I have this mush. Is there anything I can do with it? I hate being wasteful.

It's 1c TVP, 1/3c chickpea flour, 2tsp soy sauce, and 3/4c veggie broth.

Maybe could you make it into a chili with some beans and tomatoes, etc? I like TVP in chili.

  2. You can still add gluten and more chick pea flour to it untill it becomes more firm. Your mix will be less firm than a higher gluten seitan dough, but it should hold together still.

You won’t be able to boil it. Look up a recipe that bakes seitan, wrapped in aluminum foil.

Taco seasoning and fry it up in a pan, make tacos, burritos or quesadillas

Can you form it into small balls, fry them and have them in a tomato sauce on spaghetti? Or make into patties?

Don’t worry, you could use it for multiple warm dishes.

Just bake it, add some onions, bell pepper, garlic, tomatoes.
Then decide if you want to make for instance chili san carne, or pasta with red sauce.

i would personally give a go at frying it like tofu scramble, maybe sloppy joes kinda thing? in any case put a bunch of ketchup on it and call it a day😅

Add spices and roll into meatballs, stick them in the oven to remove the moisture and stick em in tomato sauce

Just be glad it was TVP instead of vital wheat gluten and not the other way around.
