I have taken to buying turkey sausage, just because the macros are really good. The amount of fat in pork sausage is hard to work around for me, I am trying to keep fat to less than 1/3rd of total calories

I found a great turkey and jalapeno sausage that I really enjoy! For 2oz it’s 70 calories, 10 grams of protein, and 3.5 grams of fat. Plus it’s delicious! Keep trying different sausages and you’ll find one that works better for you. You got this!

Should have seen my face when I compared 80/20 beef and boneless chicken thighs

There’s so much fat in sausages in general, that I’ve almost completely stopped buying them. It’s not worth the calories imo.

Used to work in meat; sausages have to have a heap of fat to make them juicy and delicious, sadly.

High fat content.

Regular Sausages are very high in fat, that’s why.

Ground chicken, dried sage, onion powder, crushed red pepper, salt, and black pepper. Add a splash of maple syrup for breakfast sausage.

FWIW I’m pretty sure the calories include the fat that you’d normally drain off, so it’s probably not as bad as you’re thinking

Yep. It’s always interesting to weigh out the portion size on the package.

I make my own sausage with ground turkey or chicken, whichever is cheaper that day. I add the typical seasonings in sausage, I can control how much salt I use and it’s not missed with random parts and a lot of fat. I add sage, fennel, seasoned salt, pepper. If you want maple sausage or a spicy sausage you use brown sugar or red pepper flakes. If I wanted it to take like Italian sausage I would add Italian seasoning.

You’re definitely going to want to switch to Turkey sausage if you want to have more and are that adamant about having sausage in your meal, “regular” sausage is a calorie bomb.

Sausage is just seasoned ground meat. Choose the meat and fat% of your preference, season and cook. Easy peasy.
Diels_Alder
Because sausage is delicious and you don’t want to live without eating it.
