In my humble opinion, this is the best zaru soba in Los Angeles. I would love to hear some other recommendations but I’ve yet to find something in the city that’s better. bonus points for Jonathan Gold loving this place.

Otafuku in Gardena is famous for soba, both zaru and seiro. Try them next! This place you posted looks really good too.

I like SoBAR on Washington in Mar Vista. For their warm soba, they use CHONKY soba. Excellent stuff.

I love Ichimi and used to always go there when I went down to the South Bay, but lately I’ve been going to Izakaya Akatsuki. They’re my new favorite South Bay restaurant (not saying much since I don’t live there, but it’s where I go most often when down there now).

I appreciate you misspelling this place to threw off the scent.

Seriously though this place is the best, and what you ordered is my favorite thing on the menu.

Love that place for its soba.
A lot of “buckwheat” soba out there actually have very little buckwheat content and are mostly made of wheat flour (which is also listed as the first ingredient). In my opinion, a proper buckwheat soba would need to have 60% or more buckwheat flour content.

Although I don’t know the exact ingredients, from the texture and the lighter color, the soba from this place seems made with a higher buckwheat content.
