I’ve just hired on a new guy, and have 3 returning from university for December. I have too many, I’m even able to give the public transport wankers Xmas day off.
It will still be fucked, because the public are assholes, but at least the team won’t be worked into the ground.

Well after cancelling an October vacation due to staffing – amongst other things – I just quit. Apologized to the guys, threw down the tower. One already got himself another job and is trying to get out (and trying to get us into that job)- the other one said he would stay until the owner got staff moved over from her other location.
I am pretty much booking mid Nov to Mid Dec for me only time.

Like as if vacation even exists for us. Time off? What is that even.

The flip side of the coin is that when the restaurant is fully staffed, management starts cutting hours. It’s super fun taking on Christmas expenses when your spending power has been halved because winter is your slow season.
