hello, long time listener, first time caller. I started eating canned sardines a few months ago, mostly in pasta or occasionally out of the can. I’m a picky eater so I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone. Yesterday I purchased Northern Catch smoked oysters from Aldi- I know they’re cheap so they won’t be the best representation. I tried them with some triscuits, whipped cream cheese, and hot sauce. At first, I wasn’t a huge fan. But by the third cracker, I was hooked. What’s everyone’s favorite smoked oyster brands, and how do you like to eat them?

I enjoy Sprout’s smoked oysters in olive oil with red chili peppers more often than any other variety. I eat them on nacho cheese Doritos with whipped cream cheese and Tapatío hot sauce.
I haven’t tried the fancy ones like Ekone yet, but I do like Crown Prince hand-packed smoked oysters in olive oil. I buy them by the six-pack at Vitacost.com. Compared to the lower-cost brands like Geisha, they are a little bit more reminiscent of fresh oysters. (Geisha etc are fine too, I’m glad you enjoyed your Northern Catch.)
I try to eat them pretty often because I’m anemic and they are a fantastic source of iron.
I usually either eat them straight out of the can, or on saltines with Lao Gan Ma chili crisp. Canned seafood and chili crisp are my two favorite things this month!
Ekone’s are delicious, i buy them any time they go on sale at WF, but they are still $10+/tin. I always just eat them straight from the tin & the habanero ones are my favorite. Otter Kingdom is my budget tin if I’m going to be putting in a salad or recipe.
I get those from aldi too. I like the ones with the red chili peppers in them the most.
