Purchased this at a shop in Yokohama, Japan for $35. Was upright and out on the floor. Figured it was worth a shot but likely a dud.
Hotel will not provide a decanter and I do not have an ah-so on me. Wish me luck…

Update: somehow got cork out without it disintegrating until it got out of the bottle.
This is funky and a little past its prime, but this is also my first wine ever older than ten years, so I am completely out of my depth here.
Not corked, perfectly drinkable, but I feel like I wish I could have gotten a hold of it five years ago?
Color: deep and rich burgundy
Nose: okay, I’ve always heard of people getting leather on wines but I’ve never really found it myself as a prominent note. Here I finally get it.
Palate: oh man this is a little funky for me. Decent acidity, but also has a savoriness that I can’t quite put my finger on.
Overall: this was a chance that was worth taking and would happily do again. If you’re ever in Yokohama, drop by Life Vacation and take a look at their stuff. Cool older spirits and wine.
