Gardein Turk’y Roast: do you follow the 100 minute oven or “short on time” route?
First year as a vegetarian and decided to bring a Gardein Turk’y Roast to Thanksgiving and not sure which method will give the optimal results. Thanks!

I always do the short on time one, for this and all other frozen foods that have a microwave + oven option.

I can’t quite remember what people recommended but I searched Reddit last year to figure this out. If you follow the long instructions it will be really overcooked/burnt if I remember correctly. The gravy that comes with it is not good so if you’re picky like I am you should make your own.

I do the longer time from frozen in the toaster oven, I dont mind the two hour cook time as it gives me time to prep the rest if the veg. It is covered in foil for most of the time and doesnt seem to dry out.

I missed the instructions to keep the roast frozen and absent-mindedly left it to thaw in the refrigerator overnight because I was used to Tofurky. I think I ended up loosely following the quick instructions but checking it a little earlier than they said. It turned out OK, but I would definitely follow the package instructions next time.

For all of these roasts and similar, I do conventional oven, plus veggies in the pan to roast at the same time. I use their paltry included gravy packet as a glaze but make my own vat of gravy based on the ‘easy vegan gravy’ recipe from Nora Cooks
