Simple taste, simple kick, but a decent hot sauce to keep on hand.
cheezzypiizza
It got me into hot sauces but it’s all heat no flavor imo
captaintomatio
I like it for a neutral hit of vinegar, Louisiana has a better flavor though and I feel like there’s more depth, although Texas Pete has its uses. Some may say it’s bland but sometimes I like its basic appeal, it’s pretty decent on fried chicken. It’s good if you’re looking for a sauce that won’t overpower anything, opposed to like Tabasco, I love Tabasco but because it’s so strong, then that’s all I taste. For me it all depends on the food it’s applied to honestly?

Had it a couple times in restaurants (might have been in packets which probably didn’t help things), pretty weak in flavor and heat, I remember wondering about how watery it was
Phantom_Phil
I like it for wing sauce mixed with butter
Physical_Analysis247
I don’t hate it

I think most hot sauces like this use a lot of salt and vinegar to enhance heat and flavor. They are fine and pleasurable but kinda processed and simple too.
SpaceFace11
There are better options in that price range

I like it! $1.25 at my local Dollar Tree

I’ve always been a Texas Pete fan as my mom used it generously on a casserole she made when I was a kid and that dish became my favorite thing to eat. It was the first hot sauce I ever tasted.
She’s 82 now and still makes it for me when we visit lol.

I like it for what it is

Mediocre. If someone was new to hot sauce, i would not recommend this to them as it will likely drive them away.
Im basically a daily hot sauce fan, and this is a sauce i’ll never taste again.
GranddaddyFisher
I order it by the quart so I don’t run out. Everyone stopped carrying it near me. I eat it on everything. Grew up in the SE US so there’s that. Not sure if they still sell it but I also like their sriracha sauce called ‘Cha!

Texas Pete’s and Pico Pica were my grandpa’s favorite. He helped raise me and both sauces hit me in the feels every time. Since I can remember, I’ve always had both on hand.
RedHatRogue
Simple and good for casual everyday use but I prefer the sauteed garlic over the original.
baconpancake42
I like it in certain things. It’s really good in cottage cheese
Agile_Possession8178
Not much heat or flavor, but it’s cheap, so it will do in a pinch.
GoonFight
Put it on my lipppp
arickg
I drink the garlic one as a beverage, it’s divine.
cpttripps89
It’s my go-to breakfast hot sauce but for some reason that’s all I use it for.
zack2996
Good not great i prefer Louisiana hot sauce or Tabasco but this will definitely still get put on some eggs
burrito_magic
I’ll take it if that’s all they have. It’s a step above ketchup
TheSavageBeast83
For cheap, watery, vinegar hot sauce it’s probably my favorite. Like I’m happy if it’s a restaurant

What is this lukewarm blasphemy against the mighty red cowboy? Shame on y’all. I live about 15 minutes from the Texas Pete factory so it is liquid gold around here. All restaurants have it. The local Aldi’s carry two hotsauces; Burman’s Cayenne Pepper Sauce, and the mighty Texas Pete. It is the quintessential red pepper sauce. Not too hot, but a great flavor. They make a ‘Hotter Sauce’ that is also good and significantly hotter.
TagStew
Best breakfast sauce on the market 😅
garlicbewbiez
It just tastes like vinegar to me.
R_A_H
Lower quality and poor flavor compared to its peers. A classic recipe like this should be treated with respect.
It’s not a Texas sauce and a Louisiana sauce doesn’t need a clowny cartoon cowboy on the label. What is this? Hot sauce for kids? Doesn’t matter that it’s the worst version the kids can’t tell the difference.
If I have one bottle each of Crystal, Louisiana, Tabasco, store brand Louisiana hot sauce and Texas Pete… Then I will keep and use all of them except I will give away the TP or keep it around as the guest hot sauce for the less discerning.
Eventually it would spoil and get thrown out.

Tastes good, the hotter version is much much better.
XSR900-FloridaMan
The only sauce I put on biscuits and gravy. A classic you’ll find at mom and pop diners all over the south.

A big bottle like that was my daily driver at work for a couple of months. It’s very good and versatile. I put it on pretty much everything.

It’s like French’s is to mustard. You have all kinds of other great choices, but it’s there on your fridge door if you just need mustard.
