You are absolutely right. I keep seeing the can and registering the image in my mind but I always gloss over the fact that yes, it is a sandwich.

So it’s a canned Cheeseburger?
Dalek_Chaos
Never had a spam sandwich? I recommend frying the spam first.

you need to visit Hawaii.
Hauptmann_Gruetze
I have been there and did that, let me tell you: It aint great, it aint bad.

Wait till you slice it up and batter it! Fresh from the deep fryer is a guarantee for heartburn
Jack_of_Spades
Ive made it but on bread not buns. It rules.
Unclehol
Thats a good point… i have never boticed that.
I am a little concerned at how the mayo and mustard are at the top with the tomato… I have always seen lettuce be against mayo and the mustard always touches the meat. Thats the conventions I am used to anyways.

Spam rolls are big in South Korea

More common to use slices of f bread to make it into sandwich than burger buns.

Mum made it when I was a kid. It was identical to the image, but we didn’t know Spam was that salty. Mum took one bite and threw all the burgers away, then made my favorite dish as replacement for the burgers.

Don’t you have hands?
danfish_77
Spam works best when it’s small pieces, browned well. I don’t see a thick slab as ideal

OP has clearly never had a spam sandwich.

Fried spam sandwich is so good. I never had it on buns before, just bread. Now I want one and don’t have any spam

I read somewhere that Japanese convenience stores are selling this right now.
I work with a couple Hawaiians and I love when we do potlucks, they have managed to add spam to any dish and elevate it to an art form. 10/10 would stab someone for more of their food.

You raise a good point.
I have a can lying around, somewhere. Just need some lettuce.
I see: sesame bun > white onion(?)/egg(?) > yellow mustard of some form (I’ll use English, thank you very much) > slice’o tomato > American cheese > thick-cut SPAM^TM > lettuce > sesame bun
I don’t think it being uncommon qualifies it as stupid, that said.
Might do another the way I see fit, too.
ddosn
I’ve had one with bacon, sausage and spam, and proper cheese (not the american crap you see on the can).
Thats good.
Spam on its own is meh.
life_lagom
Its very popular in Hawaii

I love using pan-fried spam and ceaser salad in spring rolls.

Closest to the sun I’ve flown was when I was bored and hungry and made a hot dog with a piece of spam cut in half for the wiener
Fabulously_Shitfaced
Many many years ago at the Spokane County Interstate Fair they had a Spam brand thing and a lady made those exactly like the can there and they were amazing. Still think about them. She also gave us shirts with the spamburgs on them I still have
