Help! Something is wrong with my beets.

    It looks like possible beet leaf miners. Herbicides are the only thing that I know of to get rid of them.

    Edit: Insecticide, not herbicide. Sorry about that.

  2. I agree it looks like leaf miners. You can try diatomaceous earth if you don’t want to use chemicals.

    The stuff of nightmares… good luck rectifying the issue. I planted some rainbow shard a couple of months ago and touch wood they’re growing very well atm. Trying to get a decent veggie garden going but slow and steady wins the race.

    I’ve never grown beets before so can someone tell me why their leaves look so similar to Swiss chard?

    Oh no! The beet greens are every bit as good as the beets themselves!

  6. I get them yearly on my Swiss chard. I just pick the leaves off that have damage and mash them on the sidewalk to kill the little nasties. Eventually they go away, just takes some persistence.
