My husband and I went back to Jean-Georges last night (last time we were there was 2017). We ordered the 10-course omnivore tasting, but made it 11-course since I wanted the egg caviar from the 6-course menu. Happy that they were able to do so since I wanted to go back just for that dish! Was a little disappointed they did not have wine pairing, but we were recommended a yummy bottle of bubbles that went well with all the courses. Service was as great as before if not better. I really appreciated the added detailed explanation on ingredients. We enjoyed every single dish. My favorite was the caviar dish (coconut). My husband’s favorite was the Japanese snapper ceviche. The vibe of the menu was fresh, but acidic. It was reminiscent of Aquavit which was also seafood and acid heavy. I personally preferred the 2017 menu over this Spring 2023, I felt it was more balanced. Last night was special, though, since we were invited to tour the kitchen when service was over. (There were no treats during the kitchen tour though, unlike Eleven Madison Park). Overall, Jean-Georges still tops our Michelin-starred restaurant favorites list.

That egg toast with caviar is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. We were underwhelmed by the rest of the JG experience, but that dish stuck with us. Even learned to make it at home myself we love it so much.
