I was meaning to buy this , is this a common occurrence? Should I save my money?

  6. I use the inverted method daily, for more than 4 years and that’s happened to me when I first started, but you’ll get the hang of it…

I think the most important thing to consider is that you lose volume doing the inverted method, because the plunger has to be a bit more inserted (about 2-3 cm, 1″). If you fill it up to the brim and insert the plunger just a little bit, then yes, it’s risky.

You should also hold the plunger, so that that doesn’t happen, but don’t give up on the inverted Aeropress, it’s a really good method.

No point doing inverted, literally tastes the same

This has happened to me only once or twice in like 10 years of doing it inverted.

Don’t pre-wet the filter. It creates a seal and the degassing will build pressure. Also insert the plunger a bit deeper and not right on the edge. If you can tilt the plunger and it pops out…it’s too close to the edge.

Inverted is good for a lot of things especially cold coffee. But if you want to do it normal way without getting the water to leak out too quickly, put the plunger in just a bit and pull up like 2mm (no more otherwise you’ll break the seal the filter created and it will all pour into the cup unfiltered) and it would create a vacuum that will keep it from dripping out.

Since we’re here. Anyone got tips on how to clean coffee from walls ? I might have beem in a similar situation a while back and it still hasn’t really come off.

Oh damn! I’ve only done it once and was successful however, I’m really proficient at the traditional method at this point and don’t notice a huge difference, so I haven’t bothered to try inverted again at this point.

  11. I got a pretty bad burn doing this while half asleep years ago. Now I just do James Hoffman’s method it’s way easier and the coffee is just as good
