Was really interested in trying wake & late but I’ve been seeing some mixed reviews and also its so tiny for the cost, what did you personally think?

That Wake and Late looks pretty ideal. Been curious to try guerrilla’s but idk about beans and rice in a breakfast burrito. seems like overkill with the potatoes.

What is up w the tortilla on the left? Looks gummy

With a price like that it better be the size of my arm. For breakfast burritos, the hole in the wall local spots are always king for me and far more inexpensive.

Ah the controversial wake n late bb. Is it worth it? Is it justifiable? Who is to say

Take those beans out and the burrito will be the same size as Wake and Late, AKA, Sundays. Their Cilantro Crema is a beast, the tots are always perfectly fried, and the eggs are never gummy (over cooked).

    BUT

That price point is high; I’ve seen their production and can attest to high quality ingredients and everything being fresh, AND they pay all their workers living wages — so the math makes sense. But I can see how W&L isn’t a viable option for everyone 🤷🏽‍♂️

  7. Does either place do fried eggs in the burrito instead of scrambled?

The right one does have more empty space in it, giving it a larger appearance compared to the neatly-wrapped left one. Should judge these by weight

The burrito on the left looks like the tiniest burrito in the world. $14.24 for what looks like 3 bites. Unless it’s a weird perspective thing and it’s not as small as it looks

They have a decent gluten free tortilla, so it’s my favorite breakfast burrito!

u/fs454 care to rage about how overpriced this is? It’s just tortilla and eggs right?

Saw the pic first and then the $14.24 and I thought it was a little on the high side for 2 half-burritos. THen I saw the $13.62 and realized it was $14.24 just for the frickin tiny one – no way!

I’d rather make my own burritos… what a rip off.

When the items fall out of the burrito like that it usually tells me low quality

When I lived downtown I used to order from Wake and Late multiple times a week. Veggie burrito, cilantro crema, and a fresh squeezed orange juice, every time. Ordered again from them recently and was disappointed in the size of the burrito. They definitely used to be bigger, probably before they became a hot spot.

  16. Wake & Late used to be so good and I’m sad that it sucks now. Their OG burrito went from $8 to $16+ which I would be OK with if the quality stayed consistent but it’s hasn’t. Their quality went downhill significantly along with portions. IDK if they got lazy, don’t care anymore, or are trying to milk as much $ as possible but I’m not paying $16 for a tiny burrito that consists mostly of tater tots now.

Nothing beats the bacon breakfast burrito with a side of salsa at Lucky Boy in Pasadena.

Guerilla/Cafecito is good. They make take a while to fix the food though.
I used to work at Afuri Ramen near by and that steak breakfast burrito was the only thing I would even take a morning shift for. 😅

That’s an outrageous price or that. No thanks.

The one on the left went to brown, and moved here 5 years ago.

The one of the right went to Roosevelt, and was born here.

  21. Wake and late has proved themselves out of breakfast burrito game. They taste great but in terms of value you can’t help but look elsewhere. Next on my list is the one at Angry Egret Dinette

  22. tempurament

& I’ll stick beside Wake & Late til the day I die 😤
