First fine dining experience! (La Mère Brazier, 2*)

    I was a bit of a lurker on this sub when I first got introduced to fine dining, but eventually I got inspired to splurge and go to a 2 Michelin star restaurant! I’m currently studying abroad in France, and I had the opportunity to try multiple bouchons in Lyon, so I felt that I was familiar enough with the typical style to try something fancier. I also saw that this subreddit highly recommended La Mère Brazier!

    I had a lunch reservation, and I ordered the EUGÉNIE BRAZIER menu with wine pairing, so it was about 245 euros. I definitely felt a bit out of place, considering this was my first ever fine dining experience, and a Michelin one at that (I was surprised to be called “sir”)! The waiter recommended the Crayfish and the Pigeon (3rd and 4th courses), and those were the standouts.

    Honestly, this whole experience was a bit overwhelming, but I imagine that was largely because I had no idea what to expect. I certainly have a different outlook on food, and I hope to continue to have further fine dining experiences in the future! I sincerely wish that the US valued food quality and taste as much as France did.
