    1 1/2 pounds potatoes

    2 tbsp butter

    2 tbsp olive oil

    1/2 tsp garlic powder

    1/2 tsp onion powder

    1/4 tsp smoked paprika

    Pinch of cayenne pepper

Optional: rosemary, thyme, or garlic cloves

    Instructions:

1️⃣ Peel, wash, and quarter the potatoes.

2️⃣Microwave the potatoes on a safe plate for 3-4 minutes or until a knife has slight resistance when inserted. (optional to reduce the cooking time)
Let cool, then dice into 1/2-inch pieces.

**3️⃣**Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high.

Add potatoes in a single layer and season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic and onion powder, and cayenne.

4️⃣Cook for 10 minutes, flipping every 3 minutes for even browning.

5️⃣ Adjust seasoning and serve hot with your favorite toppings.

  2. Yep, good recipe for “pomme de terre rissolées “. For me the ultimate way to eat potatoes, do the same cut but replace all your butter and oil for duck fat. Better if the fat comes from “gésiers de canard confits “

  3. Looks great, I have to say, I’ve never seen cayenne pepper like that before.

It’s always red like paprika where I live, is this what the legit stuff looks like?

This was my mother’s dinner side go-to from 1971-1999.

the spices are not evenly distributed across all of these potatoes. this would drive me nuts.

  6. I don’t know what that is but it’s not cayenne pepper

If you really want crispy, par-boil the potatoes until they’re soft on the outside. Then drain, put them in a mixing bowl with whatever seasonings you wish, then toss them around a bunch which creates all sorts of crags and stuff.

THEN toss those in a pan with a mix of oil and butter. Absolutely fantastic.

Those are home fries, that’s definitely black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon of paprika for a pound and a half of potatoes is basically pointless, and they desperately need salt.

Not every recipe needs the “reinventing the wheel” treatment, especially when there’s no innovation happening.

  9. For that amount of potatoes, you should probably double the amount of seasoning. Personally, I typically would par cook my potatoes in salt water so not sure how much salt to add in the beginning. Also toss your potatoes with the seasoning for a better distribution and salt and pepper at the end to taste.

Also from my neck of the woods, we call them home fries. I think other countries like the UK call them something else.

what is that strange small shaped cutting board?

  11. Is this just advertising for OPs blog/website – also these are parmentier potatoes, they’ve been around for 200 years

This is a very normal way to eat leftover boiled potatoes (and sometimes meat) where I’m from. It’s delicious though.
